Alston Hall was built for colliery owner John Mercer in the late 1800s. It was purchased in 1974 by LCC and used as a training centre until it was sold to private owners in 2016. Unfortunately it suffered a fire in March 2017 but Sleater & Watson have been supporting the Client in reinstating the roof using modern building techniques with a view of taking the property back to its former glory.
