The creation of a new five-storey YMCA building in Bolton town centre, replacing the former building which stood on the same start, will provide independent living space through 40 self-contained apartments for young people in Bolton, aged between 18 and 25. The existing basement structure and close proximity to adjacent buildings and the highway created a challenge for the substructure design. The scheme also features a compliant SuDS design in the form of a blue roof.
